Who it’s for

Sojourn & Cradle makes researched, calm country guides and printables for American families giving birth abroad.

We start with two countries: Peru and Brazil.

  • American families thinking about, or already planning, a birth in Peru or Brazil.
  • Families living or working abroad who expect to have a baby there.
  • Parents who want the rules and the paperwork in order, from your baby’s two citizenships to the flight home.
  • Anyone who would rather read calm, plain explanations than piece things together from forums.

What’s inside each guide

A note from our founder

I’m a mom who gave birth abroad, in Peru. The information online was limited, and most of my practical advice came from local parents’ groups.

That’s why I started Sojourn & Cradle: to give families the clear, honest guidance I wish I’d had. Each guide is built from official sources, with the hard parts stated plainly and anything uncertain marked for you to check.

I gave birth abroad, in Peru, and built the Brazil guide from official sources. It is research, not a Brazil birth story.

— The founder, Sojourn & Cradle

In the order you’ll meet it

From citizenship and entry rules to the hospital, the registry office and the embassy, each guide follows the real sequence of a birth abroad.

Sources you can check

Points cite government offices, embassies and the law itself. Where the official picture is unclear, the guide says so.

Honest about the hard parts

Plain words, no hype. No guide can promise a visa, a passport or an outcome; offices decide. We tell you what to ask.
